Facebook announced on Friday that they've updated the News Feed algorithm to reduce the amount of spammy posts that'll show up in users' News Feeds. They've cracked down on three types of posts - those that exhibit:
- Like-baiting
- Frequently circulated content
- Spammy links
The good news is, most of us are not taking part in any of the above tactics, so our Pages won't be affected. However, I have seen link-baiting happen often enough in my feed, even from company Pages, to illicit this warning: Don't do it.
Like-baiting is when, for example, you share a photo on your Wall. In your comment to that photo, you say "LIKE if you agree, SHARE if you care!" or something to that affect. That's the sort of thing that might just get your Page penalized, causing your posts to be seen by less of your followers in the coming months.
